Definition of poor scholarship
Basically, the Poor Students Assistance Program or abbreviated BSM is
not referred to as a scholarship. Because based on the economic
conditions of students and not based on merit in considering the condition of
students. But for people who do not know or layman, all the educational
assistance provided by the government called a scholarship. Of course it does
not matter because the primary goal of BSM is to help people who are less able
to attend school and follow the process of compulsory education for nine years.
Interest BSM
BSM Program is a national program that
aims to:
1. The removal of barriers to poor students to participate in school by helping poor students gain access to a decent education services
2. prevent dropouts,
3. attract poor students to return to school,
4. helps students meet needs in learning activities,
5. supports the program Compulsory Nine-Year Basic Education (even up to upper secondary level),
6. and help smooth the school program.

Target Receiver BSM
Poor
students are elementary, junior high, high school and vocational school whose
parents are less able to finance their children's education, parents are poor
or poor households according to the criteria.
BSM recipient criteria are as follows:
1. Parents of students who received Social Security Card (KPS)
2. Student Card recipient Prospective Beneficiaries Poor Students
3. Parents participants of the Family Hope Program (PKH)
4. Students in danger of dropping school because of the difficulties fees
5. Students orphans, fatherless or orphaned
6. Students who come from orphanages
7. Students come from the victims of the disaster, disaster victims, victims PKH from very poor households and students of agricultural skills program (SMK)

Utilization of Funds BSM
BSM funds can be used for:
• Purchase of equipment students (eg, textbooks, stationery, shoes and bags)
• The cost of transportation of students to the school / madrasah
• allowance for school students
Cancellation Fund BSM
Dana BSM can be canceled if the student recipient of BSM: • Stopped school;
• Receiving scholarships from institutions / other sources
• Have been charged and convicted of criminal acts
• Resign
• No longer included in the criteria poor students
